Yes, we all here are collectors of G&W or at least interested in it. But: The 80's had way more to offer (great music for example) and I'm wondering, what else beside G&W you would consider as "typical 80's stuff"? If I remember the 80's, following comes to my mind: - C64 - Breakdance - E.T. :-) - Muppets - Tron - War Games - Miami Vice just to name some... Patrick

Ah...the great 80's! The first things that come to mind are: - Culture Club, Duran Duran, Human League, U2, Michael Jackson, Madonna and many many other great bands / artists of the 80's - Star Wars, Back to the Future Trilogy, E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark, Terminator, Tron and many other 80's movies - Boombox - Sony Walkman - Casio nerd watches - Apple computer. 8088, Casio pocket computers - Gameboy (of course!) - Addidas - Rubik's Cube - Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher - Wars (Iran/Iraq, Falklands, Soviet invasion of Afghan etc.) (these are not good memories though) The list can go endless I think And Pieter, yes, bad hairdos.....A Flock of Seagulls and Howard Jones I remember.

Hmmm... yes maybe this thread belongs in another section... But my general thought was, "what else do you remember regarding the 80's fun of G&W?" I noticed that I should have chosen another title for the thread. I'll narrow it to: What do you remember from the 80's from the category "fun, game and entertainment"? This is closer to the G&W's line. So: - Senso (yeah, I loved that one!) - Walkman - Arcade games - spending a lot of money in those game bars/places (in switzerland we called them game hells) Patrick

Thanks to you guys I am flooded with good old memories Pieter, you did mention Run DMC! Such a pivotal band in popular music history, responsible / guilty for all these rap things that we are now hearing.....like what Underworld did to electronica. And Live Aid....I just can't forget Queen and U2' s performances....

As well as G&W I remember from the playground...... Casio watches with games on them. The one I most remember was the calculator watch where the numbers appeared along the screen and you had to press the corresponding key to 'zap' them. Watches with musical alarms! Wow! the wonders of technology! TV I remember...... Tiswas Swap shop Knight rider/airwolf/blue thunder etc. But do you remember whizz kids? They had BMX's and computers and used them to solve crimes! (they were 12 year olds!) As for music.....All the british 80's bands were great and it's good to hear that they still have fans around the world. My favourites were Howard Jones and The Human League who I still listen to all the time. Howard jones still tours and releases records. Arcade games....... Track & Field and Atari Star wars were probably my favourites. I bought an Atari Star Wars from an arcade in the late 80's and I still have it. Computers..... Virtually everyone I know had an Atari 2600. We bought a Mattel intellivision instead which had much better graphics but nobody liked it because of the weird 'disc' controllers. Then along came the home computers. Most of my friends had spectrums or C64's. My parents probably couldn't afford them so we got an Oric Atmos instead. We had the last laugh because I still have it and it's worth loads more than a spectrum!
Andy.
