Personnally, I bought the X-Arcade ( x-arcade.com ) ... really great and pretty cheap. I was thinking to buy a real cabinet. I remember seing a Street Fighter II at $1,600 ... Hopefully I did not buy it, because I guess I would have then regret it ... MAME is so convenient !!! ;D

I considered this as well and it's a cheap alternative (still expensive for a joystick though) but nothing compares to a cabinet.. But, If you don't want to spend so much money, it's a good choice!

I was in Costco (maybe it's called Price Club in some of the countries you fellows call home) last week, and saw them setting up a video arcade game near the front of the store. It was one of those '81 in 1 game' ones, but you're limited as to which games will be included on the unit based on the screen/monitor position. (you know, vertical screens had games like Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Galaxian, Galaga, Mr. Do, Lady Bug, Make Trax, etc. Horizontal screens had games like Ghost 'n' Goblins, Elevator action, Wonder Boy, Berzerk, Burger Time, Bank Panic, Moon Patrol, Defender, Popeye, etc...) Anyway, here's the best part, the game was only $2,400.00 CDN! That's dirt cheap man! I'm seriously thinking of getting one!! Maybe I should have picked it up right then and there, for all I know, it could have been a pricing oops that has since been corrected! Hmmmm.....
For now, I'll just stick to the MAME games on my PC.
Anybody got any high scores that they think can't be beat???

I've added a coin door on my cabinet and of course it's working perfectly! The nice thing about the coin mech is that it can be set up to accept any specific coin (euros, dollars, tokens) and it's now set to accept some pachislo tokens I bought from Ebay about a year or so ago.. Btw, the lunacade currently offers no option for a coin mech as it's for family use only so I had to cut wood, buy the necessary mechanisms and find out about how to set this up by myself. I have to say I'm proud of myself! Michael

Mike, why on earth would you want to put a coin mech in it? Are you going to charge your friends and family to play it?!
Andy.

No Andy, but since my purpose was to buy and make a complete arcade machine emulator cabinet I thought that I should add a coin mech. It adds to the overall arcade feeling.. Mike, there's a wire which must be connected on the ipac (the circuit which translates button presses so that the pc can understand them as keypresses) and which sends the relevant pulses when a coin is inserted. It's rather simple really. Thankfully, the diagrams included with the coin mech were pretty much explanatory although some research about it was needed anyway. Chocokat, anything is possible with electronics. Even someone like me who knows only some of the basics can do pretty much anything with a little research and the proper items. I'm glad it works fine! Michael
