Nice work mike.
Ok.
I'm a bit tired at the moment, so I don't have the energy required to say much on this point right now!!!
But is there life out there, when will we meet with them and do we really care.
Any idea's?
Paul

Carl Sagan once said that if we're the only race in existence then a lot of space gets wasted! On the other hand noone really knows what is going on right now in the universe.
Maybe we're the only race who will inhabit other planets in the future.. If this is the case, then life evolution will take different ways due to this so in some billion years or so, a lot of different races will exist in the universe..!

I believe there is life out there. I think there is probably one inhabited planet in each galaxy.

There is life somewhere... For me the probability of having only one planet with life (i do not mean intelligent life) is impossible... with such a number of galaxies, suns and so on, there is surely more than one planet with life...

Blimey! This is pretty far removed from 'General chat'!
Is space/astronomy an interest of yours, Paul?
Anyway, I agree entirely with Mikedotbe, to think that we're the only inhabited planet out of trillions of galaxies is close to impossible. I think that unless there's a mass 'invasion' - not necessarily a hostile one, but I mean when 'they' decide to send down loads of visitors in broad daylight, then we'll not know a lot about it, the governments do too much of a good job hiding it.

Well even if i clearly say that there is life outer space, i can't (and i'd say NOBODY can) tell that is intelligent lifeform...
It my exist, but i doo not think that we (our generation) will see some E.T.
but as a said... it's my though... [glow=Purple,2,300]Teal'c[/glow]

LOL @ Kevin, yes they may be!!! Well they can't be more inteligent than us or they would have found a way to contact us. Afterall that's what we are doing! So if we do meet up with anyone, don't expect people with big heads!!!! Paul (I wonder if they have g&w)

Well, if they are trying, they are probably using their own technology, one that we probably don't know about and have no way of receiving......SETI only looks for known types of signals.
Like I said, it's possible that they've sent something in the past and it's been covered up.

Very interesting comments, and I agree with all of them. I can almost be certain in my own mind that in most galaxies there would be some sort of life, even if it is microbial. Intellegent life, on the other hand, may be far more distant than we (certainly in our lifetime) will ever reach. Even when initial contact is made, it will be a lot longer before any humans get to "meet" these beings, whatever they may be) (please God, let me come into contact with "7 of 9" ). pulse8

Lets not forget about all the alternate universes and realities  If the universe was created from nothing and nothing is everywhere, and if time, although only a human concept and is only relative to us, is also infinite then there are infinite possibilities of life existing anywhere at anytime and in any dimension. In effect the human race is still to be born and has already become extinct, we just don't realise it yet. The future has already happened and the past is still the present.
Oooh my head hurts - I think I'll have to go and lie down
