There are times when you want to discuss things unrelated to the games. What do you do then ? As I wrote in the past, I allow a certain degree of off-topic messages but it was evident that such a forum was needed. Most members often visit other boards for general chat so why don't we give them the chance to do it here ?
So, feel free to discuss soccer, cars, other collections, pc or other platform games, politics, girls (or boys) etc. here.. I'm sure you'll like it.

Thanks for that but it's better you created a new thread in Ebay forum!!! Most people won't notice it here!

Hello Everyone My name is Alex. I used to have a few game & watch's when I was younger. Last week by chance I was looking up a sellers feedback on eBay and found out they sold a game & watch. Wow what a fantastic memory that was. That led me here to this website, I was so excited to see an old game I had. I recall it like yesterday. My first game was manhole. I remember John Lennon was shot and I was to leave to Hawaii the next day. My parents were divorced so my mom gave me my presents to open on Xmas day in Hawaii. I could not resist because I was sure it was the game I asked for so I opened a gift on the plane. I recall I used to go to Radio Shack everyday after school to try the games. My brother told my dad I opened one of my gifts and took it off me on the plane. I took a picture of my Dad playing it and told my mom my brother opened it. I had to wait till Xmas to play it again. Man I loved that game! I now see how many other people collect these games. I envy all of you. My collection is just starting I just bought 3 last week. I cant wait to get my first game or anything game & watch related in my hands. I don’t know if I will get all of them because the prices are so high. I just want the games that I played when I was younger for now so my kids can try them out.

Interesting and funny (having the game taken off of you, and taking pics of your dad playing it on the plane) story! I'm trying to put the timeline together here, so, help me out. John Lennon was shot December 8th 1980. You got on a plane the next day, the 9th, and opened one of the gifts on the plane, and was that gift your first G&W game? The Manhole game? If so, this goes against our records that puts the release date for Gold Manhole at January 29th 1981. Please confirm. So long as you're not that concerned about whether or not a game is boxed or in mint condition, you can easily build an impressive collection at a half-decent price. You just need to be patient and to search frequently. It's the mint boxed games, the PS/NOA versions, as well as company-branded games that require deeper pockets. Good luck with the whole "kids playing them" part. Kids these days seem so much more sophisticated than we were at their age, and will probably, rather easily, become bored with Game & Watch's relatively, basic gameplay. ;D Best of luck building your collection! AC

The date is correct. It was my first and only Xmas away from home. But this game was in Radio Shack at least 3-4 weeks earlier. My Mother had a store right next to Radio Shack in the shopping center and I would go to Radio Shack and play the display games after school. My Grandparents came over from England to go to Hawaii with us for Xmas. That was the only vacation with my Grandad as he passed away January 23 1981 the day before my step sister was born. As for my kids playing the games sadly they dont enjoy them as much as I did. After a few minutes they just ended back on the shelf in their rooms. My yougest one does use the alarm clock for when to turn off his TV at bedtime. I bought 7 games on craigslist a few days ago. I have seen only 2 models of egg on here. One with Mickey Mouse that is red and one with a wolf that is blue. One of the games I bought is a red game with Mickey but is says Egg instead of Mickey Mouse on it. There is no Walt Disney productions under wide screen at the bottom. It is Mickey and not the wolf on the screen as well. The fellow I bought it from tossed it in for free because the screen has spots on it. Is there a third model for egg. We cant find any info about it on here. Also is there a way to repair the spots. When you take the batteries out they are still on the screen. Thank you Alexandria

This sounds like a factory error, or someone just swapped the front metal plate at some point. I don't think we've ever seen or heard of a red Egg before. Red was reserved for Mickey Mouse. What is the model number shown on the back? We'd love to see pics and get a serial number for this game.

I know Mike doesn't visit as often as he used to, but, I'd like to get his opinion on the "discrepancy" regarding the release date of Gold Manhole. Any site that I've visited that shows the release dates of games show the same date, so, it's possible that was the target release date, and perhaps, they ended up releasing Gold Manhole, (and maybe even other games) earlier than planned. Given the proximity of the Gold Manhole release date, to Christmas, this shouldn't be much of a surprise. Something like this is not easily verifiable, as most of us would not have a timeline or event to compare when we had a certain game, against their release date, but, in your case, you had JL's death and the flght, and can also recall it was even in the stores prior to these events, so, whether or not this changes the release dates to G&W FAQs or not, I think it's a very interesting tidbit of information. Thanks Alexandria! AC PS If the spots are crystal bleeding spots, then, no, you wont be able to fix them. If the spots are on the filter (which is in front of the screen), you can always swap the filter out with another game's filter. Can you post some pics of this Red Mickey Mouse game that says Egg on it? If you can't post them here, email the pics to me at arisc@rogers.com I'd like to see this "version" of Egg/MM. Include front and back pics and make sure you use your macro setting so I can read the stamped data on the back of the game.
