Every time I go to a page in the articles/reviews/interviews section, I get an error in my browser (something to do with a script) and it asks me if I want to debug. I wouldn't mind if it only happened once but it does it twice before continuing, then it does it again each time I load another page in that section. Just to read the photos thread I have to click the message 6 times!!
Anyone else getting this?
p.s. I'm using IE6. It doesn't do it in Opera.

Hi Andy, I am using IE 6.0 at the office and Firefox at home and I don't experience the problems you mentioned. Strange .... Regards, Pieter

Andy, I tried to replicate the problem with my IE6 but couldn't! The fact that you have this problem only in the reviews/photos forum is really strange since there are no extra scripts running in there! You should experience this in all the other forums as well!!
Anyone else with the same problem ?

I can't post a screenshot but I'll tell you exactly what it says: ERROR A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to Debug?
Line: 100 Error: Unterminated string constant Yes No
It then repeats the error when I click No, but the line number is 113.

i assume you have something like this : which is caused by this : <script language="JavaScript"> <!-- hide function openNewWindow() { popupWin = window.open('http://www.icewerk.com/brix/en/start?chn=Game%26watch%20chat;srv=1;cat=3;id=QWIJd8 H_uo8AAEoKk_s;st=9;w=590;h=530', 'open_window', 'status,scrollbars,resizeable=no,dependent,width=600,height=540,left=50,top=5') } // done hiding --> </script> should have been something like popupWin = "";to avoid "unterminated string" error in javascript but i don't think it's mike's code.... should be from proboards. No, this is my code and it has been removed since the chat function doesn't work any more. The code has been there for about 3 years now (since the beginning!!) and Andy would have noticed that earlier if the culprit was indeed this code.

Wait a minute, this only happens in this particular sub-forum. Maybe this code (or the code with the error) is only in this forum?
Andy
edit: just looked at the source, and although the spacing is slightly different, those lines of code are basically the same.
2nd edit: Now my browser has changed to a different message saying 'the page contains errors, do you want to continue to display this message? ' I said no and now the message has gone away. I don't know if this is just a browser thing or if you've changed something but it seems to be OK now.

@mike : the code is still there... and maybe andy does not have seen this before because of his config or browser (Firefox does not show that message whereas IE6 does...) anyway, it may be a small piece of code that stayed on proboards even if you have removed the code everywhere else... @andy : once you say "does not show" the message in ie, the next time the error occurs, is shows a smal triangular yellow warning sing in the bottom left in the IE status bar (which show you the message when you double click on it) Mike

Anyway, the problem isn't the code. It worked fine for 2 years and it was present in all forums.

Michael well ... then i can't tell anything else problem is line 113 and that is the code at line 113... anyway putting the line all together instead of having lot of carriage return/line feed bewteen all pieces of the same function will be better.. i was just willing to help... nothing more nothing less... :shifty: Mike

Mike P, I think you're missing something here. The sub-forum in question isn't 2 years old, it's only a few months. And it's probably been doing it on that sub-forum since then, but I just haven't mentioned it. I think the difference in the spacing of the script (that is, carriage returns) between the main forum and the one in question, is enough to cause the error on that forum only.
Andy
p.s. the error message has come back!

Strange, I've removed the code some time now and only today you saw the difference.. go figure! Anyway, IE's javascript parser is probably the worst made ever!!
