I was planning to bid on the Tropical Fish until I read the description just before the end.
What put me off was where it said THE CARTON IS ONLY USED FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES
It sounded like the box may not be included.

Woah!! I didn't spot that. Right, how do I put this in the "misleading descriptions" thread of the forum? Naughty ebay seller. Bad, bad.

I asked the seller and the box is indeed NOT INCLUDED. He said he thought about selling it later. But it seems more than 1 bidder didn't know that, judging by the price. It was very unclear.

Woah!! I didn't spot that. Naughty ebay seller. Bad, bad. And a naughty buyer as well. I am still thinking of giving him a negative. He bought my exterminator and later he didn't want it anymore, because thought it wasn't genuine nintendo G&W

This seller calls a "box" a box in his other auctions, strange he calls it a "carton" in this auction, he did this on purpous I think so you would not notice immediately :shifty:

I agree this auction was designed to deceive the buyers. The part about the box not being included is buried deep in the bottom of the long description.
In my opinion it's not a good way to go about things when you're relatively new to selling. People are going to find it hard to trust him in the future.

This is just an aside, but I had a quick look at the bidding history on this item: offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=8141147078and was AMAZED to see akajiyajp2004 in amongst the (unsuccesful) bidders. For those of you who don't know - akajiyajp2004 is one of the top Japanese re-sellers who always has c9+ items for sale (and often c10). My point is he/she could easily afford to win this item, but didn't!! Perhaps TF is difficult to buy in Japan? It's a thought....

Interesting about how Tropical Fish may be hard to come by in Japan. In the past I emailed a couple of known Japanese resellers with a list of widescreen/new widescreen games I was looking for. Funnily enough, they could give me prices on all games, NIB or otherwise, except Tropical Fish. Come to think of it, I've never seen one with Japanese instructions either... pulse8

Here's an excerpt from my FAQ:
Q1.5: Can I find a list of all the games somewhere ? A: Of course you can! The complete game&watch list follows but some things first:
Releases: Japanese releases aren't mentioned in the list because the japanese boxes didn't have any special marks on them (they were similar to other international releases). Games that were never released in Japan include Egg, and all items which were released after Blackjack (Blackjack was the last known japanese release) which means that Squish, Bombsweeper, Safebuster, Goldcliff, Zelda, Tropical Fish, Super mario bros new wide screen, Climber new wide, Balloon FIght new wide, Mario the Juggler and all crystal screen games were never released in Japan.

This turned out to be not such a good buy....None of the buttons worked - they do now since a little clean up of the LCD. More seriously, though, the speaker and speaker wires have been removed from inside the game!! How the seller could have described it as 'still works fine' I don't know. Andy.

Andy, If the seller can't give good justification for this, don't forget to leave a negative! pulse8

He said it was given to him by a cousin just as it is, so he didn't realise there was sound. He seems OK and has offered me a full/partial refund.
Ball battery cover and LCD anyone?
Andy.
