It's indeed madness IFT2000! Just think of the fact that a 1000 usd boxed Rainshower is about 3 times as expensive as the boxed YM-901s which Michael bought a few weeks ago. Okay, a mint Rainshower box is VERY hard to find, but is it really worth that much?

Yes. I asked various questions about these auctions, but only certain questions were answered! I also mentioned the fact that these auctions were being discussed in a G&W forum (this one) and the seller asked to be directed here - so I have, but so far no postings as such. Question that was answered: Where did you get the games? - They belonged to a friend who had the foresight to hold on to them Wowzers!! Questions that weren't answered: Why do none of the Rainshower games have instructions?
How many other Game & Watch titles do you have left to sell?Perhaps "rudewheels" would like to post here, but I don't want you to feel pressured!

I'm sure that the seller would never reveal the number of items he has left as this would drop the prices considerably. I'm very curious on why there are no instructions with the boxes though. I've read somewhere that some items that were sold in Italy didn't come with instructions..
Has anyone thought about the possibility that these items may be reproductions ? I admit that it crossed my mind.

I didn't want to bring this up as I remember some very OVERHEATED discussion about this subject on Spinal's forum, but now you brought it up I may as well join in Mike! It certainly did cross my mind too. In fact, it was the first thing I thought about when seeing all the LP-57 auctions ... Anybody else?? sAner

It's odd that a couple of you mention about these NIB Rainshowers being re-productions. It did cross my mind also but I quickly dismissed the idea since why would anyone go to all the effort of duplicating the box and game but not the instructions (which would probably be the easiest to copy). Also some of the games have got those (nasty) Italian seal stickers on the boxes, why on earth would you want to copy them? ;D
I've no idea why some of these Italian releases are missing the instruction manuals - now that is odd. I mean, you expect to find at least one of those orange Italian language manuals surely? Purhaps these were sourced from a warehouse before the instructions were added prior to them being dispatched to the shops?
The big question is exactly how many of these games has this seller got? I'm sure if the seller had only a small handful he would of been quick to make that fact clear. If it's old warehouse stock it's my guess that the seller has got quite a few of them.

Hi Jon
Have you received the rainshower game from this seller, if so does the serial number match with the one you bid on also the other auction that has finished the serial number could not be further apart in respect of being concurent.......maybe he does not have many of these.
As for why no instructions...these rainshowers have not been sealed up so maybe they never completed the transformation to italian version.
If you look at his other auction for G&W's they are all sealed and he does state that they do include some sort of instructions which leaves me to believe that the rainshowers never got to the retail stage.

I thought of the instructions thing too QJ and you're probably right. Leigh posted the most reasonable explanation on why these items don't have instruction booklets. The games were probably "removed" from a warehouse only to remain hidden somewhere until today. The seller should probably know the story as he's reluctant to reveal any information..
(thinking at loud) What still puzzles me is the condition of the boxes though. Only collectors treat their games in a way that they won't get damaged by time. It's rather unlikely that the "remover" knew that the games would be so valuable in the future. Hmm.. unless the seller has a factory box (which would explain the condition of the boxes) full of games which means that he has at least 10 of them!

I seriously doubt that the game/box is a copy - despite the curious lack of instructions etc. (Has everyone forgotten that the GAME was included - and it works!! Not so easy to fake as cardboard!) Perhaps all those NIB eggs were copies too. If you hold one of these PERFECT Rainshower games in your hands, you know (Did I mention that I have one?) ;D Hehehe
