Southbomb, it you look closely at the serial numbers on your games you should notice that the first two numbers are often slightly out of line compared to the other numbers. The first two numbers are like a "batch number" for either a certain model or a few model in the same series. You will note for example that games that start with "24" (and I think this actually includes 21,22 and 23) are re-releases of the widescreen and new widescreen series.
I guess like sAner said, if you took one serial off let's say a Mario Bros and stuck it on another Mario Bros, then it will probably make no difference.
I see your point if you're trying to make one good game from two, but unless the serials are from the same model I personally wouldn't bother as I know it's just making a botched job. Also, I still think you could probably tell if a sticker has been previously peeled off.

QJ, do you have a list of serial numbers and what game they correspond to ? You seem to know a lot about this. It would be interesting to know and I can include it in my faq also.

I wish I knew more about the serials Michael and I've often though about creating a log, mainly out of curiousity. I've also noted that Japanesse release multiscreens start with "30". If we had a list of the serial numbers and their matching release models etc., this would help hard-core collectors match up the correct games to their proper version boxes. If anyone is serious about this project then perhaps they could email me the serial numbers from their games, and if possible mention the box type (ie., CGL, pocketsize, Ji21 etc.,) and I could try and compile a list? I can be emailed at qjwebsite@aol.com if anyone can help or is interested. QJ

Mike, thanks for that, I've already started work on the serial number database. I'm compiling it in Excel and will email you once I've got a basic list together.
Even though I've only just started it looks like some interesting info is coming through.

Thanks foxterrier for those numbers. I'm going to start a new thread with this topic so it's easier to keep track of.
Cheers, QJ

That's ok. I actually have 4 that I can see from just sitting here in my chair. I'm sure I probably have 1 or 2 more hidden away in boxes if I bothered to look as well.
