>sigh< Just looked at the first 2 posts on this page.....what happened to the girls? I still talk to Roz on MSN but I'm not sure why she hasn't been visiting here The last time I spoke to Ruth she was absolutely flat out with work; perhaps still in the same situation? Come back, girls! You've been gone too long, y'hear?! pulse8

Well done, Mike I wonder why there's two editions? Excuse my ignorance, I'm not big on Mini Classics, but are there any other ones of these with two variations? pulse8

Yes, of course. For example, MGA releases in the US were more colourful. I think I have some photos of them in my FAQ. But I've noticed that various versions were released worldwide for most miniclassics too.

There is also different versions following the countries where the are sold. Germany has german text, france has french text and there is also a english (non us) release, thus, i assume that 4 versions exists for MOST of them (DE,FR,UK and US) here are 2 pictures that show the difference for the mario cement factory DEFR

I have a little theory about the reason why USA games are usually more colourful (Mini classics and NOA/Pocketsize). Anyone who's been to the USA (or indeed seen any American TV show!) will have noticed that they don't do anything by halves. A sports event has to be accompanied by monster trucks, pop stars singing the national anthem, 100 cheerleaders, etc. Cars are massive and overstyled to the point of tastelessness. A TV chat show isn't 'proper' unless some of the audience beat up the compere and get thrown out by huge bodyguards.... you get my drift. Anyway, with all that bombardment of the senses in your daily life, you must get a litle numb and to attract you to buy an electronic game (or any item for that matter), companies must go over the top in their packaging and other marketing. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some wacky TV commercials for the G&W when they were popular. By the way, I don't mean to offend any US citizens by this post, I hope I haven't. Andy.

Just a small comment regarding different versions. There are more language versions than the ones mentioned above. Here is an example; a scandinavian release of The Smurfs with danish, swedish and finnish text: www.marcusmedia.se/doc/smurfs_miniclassics.jpg

Yes, there are a lot of different language versions (like the greek ones that were sold here) but I don't consider them as different versions altogether. What I was talking about is that some versions have completely different background package layouts from the regular releases. One example that springs to mind is the mario's cement factory which can be found with different background colours, transparent game or not, not to mention the version which has a wall as a background. A lot of other game packages were like this way too.
