Hey guys, It's getting more & more quiet in here, don't you agree? A few months ago I could barely keep up with the new threads and answers and I must admit this was nervebreaking. Then a few weeks ago things settled down a bit and the activity was like it used to be in the start of this forum. But now, the past 2 a 3 weeks I find the activity really low. Do you agree and what is the cause? ->Spring in Europe and the USA. -> a decrease of active collectors. -> lack of interesting things which are happening. Regards, sAner

Hello,
I must agree with you Pieter (though i'm only member for a short time) that it is very quiet. I think everything about GW's has pretty much been discussed on this forum, so the only things left to talk about are very nice and rare items that are currently on e-bay and their sometimes ridiculous prices. Maybe that could be a reason. But i do think that there's a large amount of private messaging going on between two (or more)parties making deals, but i'm not sure. Maybe Micheal can tell...
Best regards to all,
Mattijs

Hi Matsor, I think the reason is that the flow of information here is getting smaller and more sensitive to the people here.
For example, I bought a Boxed Popeye Tabletop for US$45 and a NIB Blackjack for US$30 (with shipping) from Ebay. But I will still sell them for around US$189 and US$89, both which includes shipping.
But it does not help me when my potential buyer knows how much is my initial cost, doesn't it? They will try to bargain me down but I won't as I think the price is still more than fair.

Hey Matsor & Nelson, I think you both could be very correct. I also thought about these two things. Almost everything has already been discussed now. And you don't want to throw in your own windows (is that even English?) by letting potential buyers know about your successes. On top of that it's just a fact that so many collectors read this forum and most of them even joined it as a member. Therefore you can't discuss everything anymore. Remember the problems which arose when I started the thread about Yellow Buttons, Nelson? Everything you say; negative or positive will be read by almost everybody in the g&w-community and therefore you should really watch your mouth. I think more and more people realise that. It's a shame in my opinion though. sAner

Yep and why should I share too many of my secrets? I really work d**n hard to get good deals and it's not easy when prices are so artificially inflated on Ebay.
I for one are not going to raise prices base on the prices of the last 2-3 months. I'll go with my pricing that I fixed in December.

Maybe one reason that people are keeping quiet at the moment is what is happening on Ebay at the moment and it is making everyone especially cautious. There just seems to be too many rich collectors out there and only a few of us are getting a look in. I'm glad that I started collecting 4 years ago because now I just never win anything. Even if I really stretch my budget and put in a bid which is a little higher than I really planned then someone will come in twice as high (boo hoo !). Admittedly I only go for new boxed stuff now which is a lot more attractive to more rich people.
Will you guys please let me win something for a change ;D I only need a few more items !

If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen! ;D ;D C'mon, admit it - the reason we collect this things is (partly) because they are so valuable. Isn't it? And of course we all want to win a c10 item for pocketmoney. If you're fed up with G&W just start collecting Grandstand, epoch or Gakken etc.. (interested?) I know I'm not. It is perfectly possible to make a 45/60 (loose) and 30/60 (boxed) collection without breaking the bank. Everyone struggles to buy the really amazing items. Look at it as an investment.... Mm? (It's not as if these games were "cheap" when they came out either). As for it being quiet on the forum, don't sweat it - We will just have to think of new things to discuss, like which football team we support (in my case it is Yeovil Town). There, that wasn't so hard was it? I saw "21 grams" last week. Bit wierd, but I liked the grainy texture of the way it was filmed, and the over-acting. See, the possibilities are endless........

At least you've had a half decent season supporting Yeovil Town there John. It doesn't look at all promising for me and my team - Wolves (hence WWFC in my nic).

Soccer is not big over here at all. We like baseball and football for some reason. Don't ask... -Matt
