The snow on this board keeps slowing down and crashing mozilla. I am using Mozilla 1.6 on SuSE linux. Is there an option to turn the snow off for each user?
Also the search facility doesnt seem to work v.well, i searched for "fake" and it didnt find that topic on the fake G&W which I just posted in...

I use Mozilla and it's not crashing because of that However, I *am* using a router and the internet keeps goes down regularly (at least every 15 minutes, and occasionally every 30 seconds if it is feeling that way inclined). AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH (Make's "chat" hopeless, coz I keep falling off). Sorry to hear about your problems with the snow. BTW I am using Firefox - version 0.9.3 if that helps..

Sorry, I can't disable it for specific users and I don't want to ban Mozilla completely. I'll try to look for an updated script but I doubt there's one so I might replace it with another and see if this solves the problem. Just let me know if you notice any difference the following days.. In the meantime, try to choose "identify as IE" if there's such an option and see if this fixes anything.. Michael

Also using firefox (seems to be gaining a lot of ground on IE) and not really any big problems. I do get the occasional horizontal scrollbar that I don't get anywhere else.

I made a couple of minor changes to the snow script. Please let me know if it slows down you browser. In this case, I would also like to know version number and processor you're using.
I'm using Opera 7.53 and I've got an Athlon64 3000+. It seems fine here.
Thanks!

I am also using Firefox (1.0) now and the snow does look quite odd compared to explorer. Some snow is brownish/yellow and I get some stripes here and there (where the snow passed). And a horizontal bar appears every now an then (on the bottom).

Well, the colours isn't the problem because I can set them to anything I like (and I chose the colours myself).. Do you get the stripes when you scroll down the page ? It's possible that the problem lies with your graphics adapter driver and not the script. The writer of this script ensures full compatibility will all latest browsers with no apparent bugs.

Mike, the snow is now much slower, and makes everything else slower, like the animated smileys, even with my 2.26GHz processor and 128MB video card (Firefox 1.0) I am also using Firefox (1.0) now and the snow does look quite odd compared to explorer. Some snow is brownish/yellow and I get some stripes here and there (where the snow passed). And a horizontal bar appears every now an then (on the bottom). sAner Pieter, my snow is the same as yours by the sounds of it. The snow has always left a "snail trail" in some places on the screen, which disappears if another snowflake passes over it, or if i scroll down the screen to "refresh" the section. The horizontal bar down the bottom appears when a snowflake disappears off to the side, and I guess happens due to Firefox being so strict in it's coding. ***People - if you're testing a webpage you've written, Firefox will pick up all bugs! So use it!! ;D *** Yeah so anyway Mike, to be honest I think it was better the way it was before. Anyone else find it better or worse? pulse8

Hmmm, yes I think it is a little. To be honest, I can't recall how much different it was to this originally Did you put the old code back on Mike? pulse8

It seems fine for me! And im using a P2 433MHZ processer, and IE 5.5.
PS: The changes in the snow is that there are different types of stars, and some are gold now (right?)

Correct, but I think the star shape variations were always there... pulse8

Correct, but I think the star shape variations were always there... pulse8 Indeed, the script Mike is using just uses the *'s (above the 8) of different fonts, hence different "snowflakes" sAner
