Welcome to Mike's Nintendo game&watch board! This board was created for all collectors or anyone interested in Nintendo's lcd handhelds and specifically for those interested in the game&watch series which thrived during the 80s. For any questions regarding this board please email me. Click here to go back to my collection site. Enjoy your stay!
The existence of this game was unknown to most of us some years ago. Amazingly more than one have surfaced since then and one white crab grab also made an appearance in Ebay! In here, we discuss the reason behind this release and whatever information we can find about it!
Thanks to Aris and other collectors, a very big serial database project is under way! The purpose of this project is to gather as many serial numbers from game&watch games as possible in order to draw various conclusions on releases, total production numbers etc. If you own any game&watch games please submit your serial numbers in here!!
Links and information on all the latest rare items that have appeared in Ebay or other sites. Only completed auctions are discussed for obvious reasons!
Link. You've seen games in
blisterpack presented here before but I'm sure you can't recall seeing one with a yellow background! Besides the MGA releases with
the Microgames logo and the other international releases which both had a blue background, there were some additional (rarer)
releases with white and yellow background colours. These don't appear for auction very often and unfortunately we don't know much
about them. There are indications that the yellow ones, like this mario's cement factory you see here were sold in the US by a
company other than microgames during mid 90s but we lack any information on the white ones. Let's hope we find some more about them
in the near future! Unfortunately this blisterpack has been opened before so $300 for it seems to be too much for collectors..

Link. It's well known that
collectors are always looking for game&watch games and boxes which are in the best condition possible. Most of the times, due to
budget limitations they are forced to settle for less but any collector would buy mint items if possible. Sealed boxes are very rare
and extremely desirable due to the immaculate condition of their contents but they usually end at high prices in auctions. As far as
we know sealed boxes were only sold in Italy. They were sealed by a sticker on either side representing the logo of the distributor,
usually OTO (older releases) or Giochi Preziosi (newer ones). They contained italian instructions, a registration card, all known
leaflets and batteries but some of them contained english instructions as well. Not that you'd want to find out if you owned one,
that is! :) End price of this very nice sealed climber was 232.89 pounds.

Link. The world of game&watch
releases is more rich than one can imagine when starting to collect the games. While only 60 different model numbers were released,
there were numerous special releases and a lot of different editions of each game. Different game colours and different box layouts
were not at all uncommon. We have one nice example of the variety in box design here. This french release seems to be different than
the other french releases we've seen in the past. The photo is probably from the back of the box and it pictures only one game (oil
panic) as opposed to the usual 3 or more on the back of other boxes. It's difficult to say whether this was a special release or not
as we have no information and no other pics of the box. Price was a bargain though at 26.50 euros!

Shaw Brothers and The Venoms « Thread Started on Oct 27, 2009, 8:07pm »
I've been discussing Martial Arts movies with some friends lately, and recently found these clips on You Tube. Not sure if there's much of a following for this sort of stuff here, but, in case there is, I thought I'd post it here. If you like this sort of thing, then, perhaps these clips may look familiar to you during a time when you used to play with G&W or even before.
Mike, I remember going to the village my mom was born in (near Kavala) back in 1980. I was only 9 years old then, but, sure enough, there was a theater there just minutes from the main street and they played Kung Fu movies there every week. I distinctively remember seeing Flying Guillotine back then, and was terrified someone might throw one of those contraptions on my head on my way back home from the theater! LOL!!!
Anyway, here are the clips.
One of the best opening scenes of a Kung-Fu movie I've ever seen:
Super Ninjas (aka "Five Element Ninja")
And the opening scene from one of my favourite Kung-Fu movies of all time:

LOL, I used to watch these kind of movies with my friends all the time in the 80s. It was a very common thing here in Greece and almost all kids loved them. Most of them are considered cult nowadays and are barely watchable.. They are funny though! I can't believe we took these movies seriously back then!

Most are barely watchable nowadays? No!!!!! These movies are great! Mind you, you do come across quite a bit of "cheese" here and there. For me, it's pure entertainment now! In a good way and in a bad way: The stories, the bad dubbing, the costumes, the sound effects, the fight scenes/choreography, the training techniques, even the way some of these guys expire is hilarious!

Yes, I suppose you can watch them just for a quick laugh with friends (the bad dubbing is something we used to laugh so much at when we were young!!) but watching an entire kung fu movie? Arghh, no!! I prefer to spend my time watching something a bit more classic or rather modern..

I remember this one kung fu movie where there was this evil kung fu master with white hair and long white beard. His hand would turn black and if he hit his opponent in the heart region they would die.

Hmmm... can't say that one sounds familiar to me at all!!! Mind you, the description you gave for the "evil kung fu master" seems to be a description that fits about 90% of all evil kung fu masters..... The one actor that comes to mind is Lo Lieh. He very often plays the nearly invincible, villainous kung fu master with white hair and a long white beard.
Is the guy with the white hair in the clip below the same guy you're referring to?
