Link. You've seen games in blisterpack presented here before but I'm sure you can't recall seeing one with a yellow background! Besides the MGA releases with the Microgames logo and the other international releases which both had a blue background, there were some additional (rarer) releases with white and yellow background colours. These don't appear for auction very often and unfortunately we don't know much about them. There are indications that the yellow ones, like this mario's cement factory you see here were sold in the US by a company other than microgames during mid 90s but we lack any information on the white ones. Let's hope we find some more about them in the near future! Unfortunately this blisterpack has been opened before so $300 for it seems to be too much for collectors..

Link. It's well known that collectors are always looking for game&watch games and boxes which are in the best condition possible. Most of the times, due to budget limitations they are forced to settle for less but any collector would buy mint items if possible. Sealed boxes are very rare and extremely desirable due to the immaculate condition of their contents but they usually end at high prices in auctions. As far as we know sealed boxes were only sold in Italy. They were sealed by a sticker on either side representing the logo of the distributor, usually OTO (older releases) or Giochi Preziosi (newer ones). They contained italian instructions, a registration card, all known leaflets and batteries but some of them contained english instructions as well. Not that you'd want to find out if you owned one, that is! :) End price of this very nice sealed climber was 232.89 pounds.

Link. The world of game&watch releases is more rich than one can imagine when starting to collect the games. While only 60 different model numbers were released, there were numerous special releases and a lot of different editions of each game. Different game colours and different box layouts were not at all uncommon. We have one nice example of the variety in box design here. This french release seems to be different than the other french releases we've seen in the past. The photo is probably from the back of the box and it pictures only one game (oil panic) as opposed to the usual 3 or more on the back of other boxes. It's difficult to say whether this was a special release or not as we have no information and no other pics of the box. Price was a bargain though at 26.50 euros!

Hey Mike,

I see you still update some lists/tables, even though the "Game&watch TOP3 Highscore Table" is not among them. ???

Anyway, since you're in the updating mood, perhaps you, or one of your staff, can update the high scores I posted back on April 1st, 3rd & 5th? It shouldn't take much longer than it took to update Kevin's data. ::)

I think it's a real Argentina release while I'm suprised to see it end quite cheap!! I thought willsh would have bid on it as he's got a few rare loose games?!

I've got a feeling that more Argentinian games will appear as people have realised how much they are valued by collectors. If they were released generally in Argentina then there must be quite a population of them, I feel the rarity value lies in getting one boxed.

Just my two penneth.

Yes, I would say that the value in those Argentinian games is mostly with the box.
That's still quite a good price, though, for a loose game as rare as that. I reckon interest in G&W is pretty low at the moment, hence the lack of any other bidders.

Andy.

I'm not sure that interest in G&W is necessarily low at the moment? Some prices have been cheap recently, but then other items have ended very high. I have a G&W item on eBay at the moment which has been viewed nearly 700 times and has 22 watchers, the interest is out there.

The forum being quiet does give the impression of less interest, but what percentage of the collecting population regularly uses it?

I think the Argentinian games lack a wow factor if they are unboxed, the fact the plates are blue doesn't really fire the imagination, for me anyway.

Collecting is a funny thing though, one man's Pocketsize is another man's Argentinian Fire. That is part of the fun.

I thought this (POCKETSIZE) NINTENDO Game & Watch FIRE original packaging won by indymenger would have ended much more than $643.01!!:

Please let us know how many Pocketsize games you have in the list thread when you have time :)
