I couldn't find anything about this. Does anyone know if its possible to repair a damaged ribbon? (The part in the middle connecting the 2 screens) Thanks David Attachments:

I was pretty sure somebody has explained a method once, but I cannot find the topic.

I don't know if someone has posted any instructions, although I remember this being discussed, but if the ribbon is split or severed, it would be virtually impossible to repair it effectively. Your best option would be to find a cheap donor game (the same model) and replace the ribbon. But then of course, that would be almost as expensive as just replacing the game!

I remember having seen some day a tutorial about replacing the ribbon by something else (I wonder if this could have been an IDE cable...). But I'm not so sure, now, that this was on Michael's board.
But I agree with you, Andy, that it's a lot of work. Finding another game could be a better solution. And this way you can keep the first one for parts like b/c, polarized screens, buttons...

Very interesting diy but seems a bit hard to do! I'd say that fixing a ribbon isn't worth the hassle. You can find a very cheap multiscreen game in Ebay (it doesn't matter which game, you can get a bad game for 10 euros) and replace it..

Hmm, it certainly would be a lot of hassle to solder on an IDE ribbon but as Mike says, it would appear that any ribbon strip would work, not just one from the same game, as long as it has the right number of connectors. I wasn't sure if the ribbons were different but I guess it would have made economical sense for them to all have the 'maximum' number of connections, even if some were not used in some games. So, buy yourself a knackered blackjack (or mario bros if it's a book style game) and away you go! Andy
